WHERE WE WORK AND WHAT WE DO

Owned by the Town of Norwell, the Jacobs Farmhouse houses the Society Museum on the right side.

Considered Society Headquarters, the Jacobs Farmhouse is located at 4 Jacobs Lane in Norwell.  


The house was originally built in 1726.  Members of the Jacobs family lived in the house continuously until 1939 when it was given to the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities (today called Historic New England).

The Norwell Historical Society oversees the museum on the right side of the Farmhouse. The museum is open for tours at our events and by appointment (e-mail the Society HERE to inquire about a tour).

The Norwell Historical Society Research Library & Archives Center is located on the 3rd floor of the Sparrell School (on Main Street, in front of the Norwell Middle School).


The Library & Archives is open on Thursday mornings from 10:00 am until noon, or by appointment (please e-mail the Society HERE to make an appointment outside of Thurs

The Archives house numerous historic documents and artifacts.


The Research Library is also newly housed at this location. Need to do research? Like to access our collections? Please contact us--we love to help with research.

The Society Board meets monthly on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00 (see the EVENTS page for the up-to-date schedule). Meetings are open to everyone.
